If they deem it safe and appropriate, physicians on the Monument platform will prescribe naltrexone in accordance with the FDA recommended daily dose of 50 mg. Importantly, naltrexone's duration of action is approximately 24 hours. Therefore, someone will have a therapeutic dose throughout the day. Your physician will encourage you to take your 50 mg tablet at a time most convenient for your schedule. Our members set their own goals and many chose to stop drinking alcohol entirely, so taking naltrexone before drinking isn't aligned with everyone's needs. Your physician's prescribing guidelines are meant to accommodate all members and we support these recommendations with the accepted, evidence-based standards in the field. If you're interested in exploring The Sinclair Method, you can bring it up with your physician to discuss if that's the best treatment option for you.
